Iga Swiatek Wins 2022 French Open Women's Singles Final

Switek Overcomes Gauff to Claim Second Roland Garros Title

World No. 1 Polish player Iga Swiatek defeated American teenager Coco Gauff in the 2022 French Open women's singles final on Saturday, capturing her second Grand Slam title at Roland Garros.

In a match that lasted just over an hour, Swiatek dominated from the start, winning 6-1, 6-3. The 21-year-old Polish star was in control throughout the match, hitting 30 winners to Gauff's 15 and committing only 12 unforced errors to Gauff's 26.

With the victory, Swiatek extended her winning streak to 35 matches, the longest in the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won 34 consecutive matches in 2013. She is also the first woman to win multiple French Open titles since Serena Williams in 2015.

Gauff, 18, was playing in her first Grand Slam final. She had upset several top players en route to the final, including defending champion Barbora Krejcikova and world No. 7 Maria Sakkari.
